Selection Rules for Resonant Longitudinal Injector-Coupling in Experimental Rocket Combustors

This paper investigates different types of longitudinal mode coupling in subscale rocket combustion chambers using experimental data and numerical simulations. Based on a one-dimensional planar wave acoustic model coupled cavity resonators with two inlet boundary conditions, selection rules are derived, providing simple way predicting which injector chamber modes have matching frequencies. Longitudinal an acoustically open condition has been reported the literature for start-up transient research combustor experiment.
